ELIZABETH STAINTON
Member of The Skating Club of Morris!
Elizabeth is a senior at Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, NJ. She has a 4.295 GPA and is a member of the the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, the Chorus, the Key Club and Student Government. Elizabeth was named a 2008 Edward J. Bloustein Scholar.
Elizabeth’s skating achievements include competing in Junior Freestyle at the North Atlantic Regionals. She has passed her Junior Freestyle, Senior Moves in the Field and Silver Dance tests. She has served as an officer of her high school figure skating team and is a visiting coach at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena.
In her essay, Elizabeth wrote, “Sometimes another student would offer an idea I had never considered, and it would completely change my perspective on an issue. All of the students had different opinions that stemmed from their unique backgrounds, and it was this diversity that contributed to my personal growth by allowing me to discuss, listen, and refine my ideas”
KATHARINE ZEIGLER
Katharine and her partner won sixth place Intermediate Dance at the 2008 US Junior National Championships. She also continues to compete with a Junior Synchronized Figure Skating Team.
Katharine is a junior at the Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. While maintaining a 94% GPA, she is a member of the Dance Ensemble, Orchestra, Flute Ensemble, Chorale, Green Key Touring, Inducted to the Mu Alfa Theta Math Honor Society, French Honor Society, Junior Statesman of America, and a member of the Student Government.
In her essay, Katharine writes, “I am very thankful for all the lessons I have learned through defeat and victory, and I am glad that I have always had at least one teammate to accompany me through my journey.”
JENNIFER TEDESCHI
A senior attending East Brunswick High School in East Brunswick, NJ, Jennifer maintains a 3.6 GPA. She is co-president of the Orchestra, and Hand Bells. She participates as a cellist in the Pit Orchestra and the String Quartet.
Jenifer works at the Bridgewater Sports Arena as a supervisor of the Skate Guards and as a junior coach. She also volunteers for Special Olympics and babysits. Jennifer has her her intermediate Moves in the Field test and competes at local competitions.
Jennifer writes in her essay, “Learning to be sensitive to the individual needs of a person will enhance every aspect of my life”
CARA LEVINSON
Member of the Skating Club of Morris!
Maintaining a 3.9 GPA, Cara's extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, Concert Choir, Spanish Club, United Synagogue, Student Movement Against Cancer, Amnesty International, Panim Leadership Institute and Special Olympics. Cara is a Basic Skills instructor at Union Sports Arena and a Special Olympics Volunteer Coach at Richard Codey Arena. A junior, Cara attends the Scotch Plains – Fanwood High School in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Cara has passed her Senior Freestyle and Senior Moves in the Field tests. She competed at the 2007 State Games of America, qualifying as Junior Freestyle competitor, and a Platinum Artistic Showcase competitor.
In her essay, Cara writes, “ I hope I was able to make even a small difference in the lives of the children I met this summer, because having known them surely has made an enormous difference in my own.”
THERESA (TESS) MARSHALL
A senior at Immaculata High School in Somerville, NJ, Tess has a 3.5 GPA. Her school activities include Figure Skating Club, Softball, Track Club, Ski Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and a Peer Association and Peer Mediation member. Tess serves the community by visiting child cancer patients at hospitals and serving meal donation and distributions through the Ascension Church to impoverished families.
Having passed the Junior Freestyle test, the Senior Moves in the Field test and the Silver Dance tests, Tess works as a junior skate coach at Bridgewater Sports Arena. Theresa’s skating achievements include competing at North Atlantic Regionals in Novice Freestyle, and Eastern Sectional Synchronized Team Championships. Tess also is employed at Hollywood Tans.
Tess writes in her essay, “ High school students must ask themselves whether it really is that important to spend their money on clothes and make-up; have a fake attitude, and follow the crowd rather than acting themselves and sporting the bodies and personalities they already have.”

TESSICA GLANCEY
Tessica is a senior at Princeton Day School in Princeton, NJ. Her extra curricular activities include Teacher's Assistant Program, Habitat for Humanity, LINK Program, Rustic Pathways, Student Government, the Figure Skating Team, Hockey Team, Soccer Team and Senior Staff writer of ' The Spokesman'. She works as a babysitter and as a skating instructor at the Princeton Day School Summer Programs.
Tessica has passed the Senior Moves in the Field test, the Novice Freestyle test and the Bronze Dance tests.
In her essay, Tessica writes, “ Drunk drivers put everyone on the road at risk, including themselves. It only takes a second to make a wrong move, changing the dynamics of a family forever.”
STEPHEN KUO
A senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School in Plainsboro, NJ, Stephen has a 3.5 GPA and has received honors for NJMTA Spring Recital violin auditions. He works as a Figure Skating Camp Counselor and teaches at the Princeton Chinese Language School.
Stephen’s skating achievements include competing at North Atlantic Regionals and Eastern Sectional Championships in Junior Freestyle. He has passed his Junior Freestyle and Senior Moves in the Field tests.
In his essay, Steven writes, “People revere those who remain meek in the midst of their great accomplishments and those who maintain a quiet composure in time of defeat.”
